We are looking for a highly capable Regulatory Analyst – Payment Institution (PI) & Electronic Money Institution (EMI) to join our ranks.

This is a highly central, cross-functional position where you will partner daily with Commercial, Risk, Product Design, and a dedicated team of AML, CTF, and Compliance experts. What Success Looks Like

We want you to come in and make an immediate impact. In your first few months, a successful hire will have:

  • Assessed and fully aligned our systems with current MFSA and EU regulatory requirements.
  • Put structured, organized processes into place.
  • Successfully updated our Risk Management Framework.
  • Revamped and updated our Compliance Monitoring systems.

What You Will Do

Regulatory Monitoring, Research & Interpretation

  • Monitor regulatory developments from the MFSA, FIAU, EBA, ECB, and European Commission.
  • Analyze updates on PSD2, EMD2/3, RTS on SCA & CSC, DORA, and AML/CFT obligations.
  • Conduct impact assessments and translate complex regulatory changes into actionable guidance for our internal teams (Operations, Product, Risk, and Finance).

Compliance & Licensing Support

  • Ensure we meet all MFSA licensing conditions, including capital requirements, safeguarding, governance, and outsourcing oversight.
  • Take charge of periodic MFSA submissions (Regulatory Returns, Own Funds, Safeguarding reports).
  • Maintain and update internal policies (AML/CFT, safeguarding, complaints handling, operational resilience).

AML/CFT Assistance (FIAU Requirements)

  • Support the MLRO and AML team with obligations under the PMLA and FIAU Implementing Procedures.
  • Participate in customer risk assessments, transaction monitoring reviews, and remediation projects.
  • Assist with STR/SAR preparation and internal reporting workflows.

Reporting, Documentation & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Prepare pristine documentation for MFSA and FIAU supervisory inspections.
  • Draft high-quality compliance reports for senior management, the board, and regulators.
  • Liaise directly with the MFSA, FIAU, external auditors, and third-party service providers.

What You Bring to the Table

  • Education: Degree in Law, Finance, Accountancy, Economics, Banking, or a related field.
  • Experience: Proven background in a PI, EMI, fintech, banking, or payments environment in Malta or the EU.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong grasp of PSD2, EMD2/3, RTS on SCA/CSC, DORA, AML/CFT frameworks, MFSA Rulebooks, and FIAU Implementing Procedures.
  • Skills: Exceptional analytical skills, regulatory research capabilities, and top-tier English report writing.

Nice to Haves: Previous experience with MFSA/FIAU inspections; professional qualifications (ICA, CAMS, ACAMS, Level 5 Compliance Diploma); familiarity with SEPA, cards, or outsourcing oversight.
